Sprigs
Sprigs
Contrary to past assumptions, sprigging our newer Zoysiagrass varieties is an excellent option for budget-conscious projects without sacrificing long-term quality. This method offers flexibility across a wide range of applications. Entire golf courses can be sprigged, or projects can combine sodded feature areas with sprigged fairways and surrounds to balance cost, performance, and timelines.
Bladerunner Farms and our grower network have successfully implemented sprigged Zoysiagrass on multiple projects across the United States and internationally. When properly planned and installed, sprigging delivers a durable, high-performing turf surface built to last. While establishment time can be slightly longer than sod, the long-term return is significant.
As our founder David Doguet often says,
“What’s an extra month if you end up with 20 years of a quality playing surface.”

Transporting sprigs

Boxed sprigs are an ideal shipping option, especially for international projects, with sprigs packed in plastic-lined boxes to protect moisture and quality during transit.

Bags
Bagged Sprigs are a good shipping option for projects in the USA. Bags help with the ease of handling the sprigs between shipment and installation.
Washed sprigs
Washed sprigs are used when less soil is preffered. Bladerunner uses this method most often for shipping Internationally and Golf Course Greens.
