Bladerunner Farms Reinforces Leadership Structure as Expansion Accelerates
Poteet, TX – June 23, 2026 – Bladerunner Farms, a global leader in Zoysia grass research and breeding, is reinforcing its leadership structure as the company accelerates expansion across global markets, with Ryan McKuhen serving as President.
As President, McKuhen oversees the global expansion strategy, day-to-day operations, and the continued expansion of Bladerunner’s vertically integrated production, licensing, and distribution platform to meet growing demand for its premium Zoysia grass varieties, including Lazer®, Stadium®, and Zeon®.
Since assuming the role of President, McKuhen has already helped advance Bladerunner’s next phase of growth, including leading the company’s presence at the 2026 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Conference & Trade Show in Orlando, Florida. There, Bladerunner showcased its enhanced Zoysiagrass portfolio to one of the most influential audiences in the golf industry, with live displays reinforcing its commitment to agronomic transparency and real-world performance.
As the company advances this next phase of growth, leadership alignment is critical. “Ryan’s leadership, operational expertise, and deep understanding of the turfgrass industry have already made a significant impact on our organization,” said David Doguet, Founder of Bladerunner Farms. “As we continue to scale, his role is critical to ensuring we grow with the same level of quality, consistency, and innovation that defines our brand.”
According to Doguet, this shift comes at a critical moment for the industry, as rising water constraints, labor pressures, and increasing environmental regulation are forcing operators to rethink traditional turf systems. What was once a site-level decision is now a system-level one, driving demand for high-performance, low-input solutions.
“When I committed to Bladerunner Farms, it was largely driven by the company’s family values, work ethic, and the strength of its proprietary Zoysia geneticsused by premier golf courses, sports facilities, and high-end landscape projects across the U.S. and internationally. While often viewed as a traditional sod provider, they operate at a much deeper level, where genetics, not turf, serve as the control point for performance, sustainability, and long-term value,” said McKuhen.
At the core of this leadership is the company’s research and development platform, recognized as the world’s largest privately owned Zoysiagrass research and development facility, where new cultivars are continuously evaluated across real-world conditions.
With more than 30 years of research and a growing network of licensed growers, Bladerunner Farms operates a scalable model built on proprietary genetics, extending its impact far beyond its own production footprint. This ongoing investment in research, genetics, and sustainable farming practices has positioned Bladerunner at the forefront of modern turfgrass development.
McKuhen brings more than 25 years of experience across golf, sports turf, landscape, and large-scale sod production. Prior to joining Bladerunner Farms, he served as an Executive Vice President of Farming and Logistics with a southeasternsod supplier and held leadership roles at Nimmer Turf Farm and King Ranch Florida. A former golf course superintendent, he also maintains active involvement in leading industry organizations and turf education initiatives.
“Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a wide range of turfgrass varieties across golf, sports, and landscape environments,” said McKuhen. “What David and the team have developed at Bladerunner is truly differentiated, not just in performance, but in consistency and long-term sustainability. I’m proud to be part of this team and excited about where we’re going next.”
McKuhen’s leadership continues to support Bladerunner Farms’ long-term strategy of scaling operations, expanding key domestic and international markets, strengthening its licensed production network, and further positioning the company as a leader in next-generation turfgrass genetics and sustainable turf solutions.
“Bladerunner was built over decades with a focus on performance, not shortcuts,” said Doguet. “Ryan understands what makes this business work, from the ground up to the genetics behind it. As we scale, that alignment between operations, research, and real-world performance is critical to doing it the right way.”
